more than just Mother's Day .

some people would consider themselves:
 lucky to have great friends
lucky to find money laying on the street
lucky to make good grades
lucky to have a job
lucky to have a car to drive
lucky to have a great family
many people believe you make your own luck .
i disagree.
over the past few years i have realized that nothing ever comes from being lucky.
i am:
blessed to have my friends
blessed for the relationship i have with my brother and sister
blessed to have the opportunity to go to college
blessed to spend everyday working with kids
blessed that my family supports me in everything that i do
and most importantly ..
blessed to have such a wonderful mama.

my mama is a very blunt, outspoken, opinionated, loving, caring, dedicated, godly, creative, successful, and giving person.  she worries way too much, she can be extremely over protective, and she stresses over everything; however, she is one of the best people that i know and a huge part of everything i am. i am so thankful to have such an amazing mother.

Happy Mother's Day Mama

We Love You !

life has been .. prom, spring break, and tornados

It has been quite a while since my last post, so here is a summary of the past week...

PROM .
Friday morning I woke up to a day full of nothing but prom.  I was very excited and a little sad because of the reality of it being my last prom ever.  Many hours of that afternoon were spent getting ready.
- an hour nap before leaving to get my hair done.
- an hour and a half of getting my hair sprayed, and curled, and hair sprayed some more.
- the time it took for Kristina Laraway and Jessica Ashworth to get my hair and make up just perfect.
- getting on my dress, heels, and jewelry.
- my zipper breaking and my mama having to safety pen my dress.
- meeting at the studio for prom pictures.
By the time I arrived at the studio, my nerves were bad and I was stressed to the max.  My hook on my zipper broke and mama had to safety pen me, mama had to drive me to meet Justin because it took me so long to get ready, I realized my camera was broken, and I left Justin's picture money and order form at home in my binder.  Let's just say it was not the best start the the supposedly "perfect" prom.  We met Casey and Brooke for more pictures and after 20 million flashes, we headed to The Twisted Fork to meet everyone else.  The Twisted Fork was actually really great and the food was delicious.  My nerves started to calm a little, and then while walking to the bathroom, of course I would trip and fall, in my prom dress.  It was slightly embarrassing but I'm going to pretend I played it off good.  Our Masquerade Ball was at the Grand Marquise Ball Room and it was extremely nice.  Prom was surprisingly a lot of fun and I enjoyed every minute of it.  It was a great ending to a not so perfect beginning of the day.  We left prom and headed straight home to change, grab our suitcases, load up the car/truck, and head to the beach.

life is just flying bye

yesterday, as I sat in my Benton Scholarship Interview and talked about every part of my life from being a freshmen until now, I realized how fast the past four years have flown bye.  Freshman year was by far one of the best years of my life.  Walking the halls at SJHS was much different than anything I had ever seen in the small K-12 Meadow School.  Everyone was different and much more interesting.  Little did I know that many of these people would become my best friends and we would have many great times together.  Sophomore year was more challenging but I began to understand myself and realize what I wanted in my future.  Junior year was by far the most difficult.  My classes were extremely hard and calculus was kicking my butt.  Never did I ever think that calculus would become my favorite class and my intended major in college.  By the end of junior year, all I could think about was how badly I was ready to be a senior.  Senior year finally arrived and flew bye all at the same time.  It seems like just yesterday I was sitting outside of school at 6am waiting to reserve my spot for the freshman NY trip.  This year has been another great year.  I'll never forget winning our first Powder Puff football game, or the poles that took a lot of muscle and stress to get up, or the old car that we beat up for no reason at all, the late nights that we stayed up defending that pole, the senior camp out in front of the school, getting stopped by the police at 1am because they thought we were the arsonist, the very stressful but very enjoyable senior project, the wonderful things you can learn and the fun times you have in calculus for two years straight, my field experience with Mrs. Wood, Homecoming Court, the never dull days in teacher cadet, dancing like a fool at key club convention, learning how to Dougie off of YouTube, our very famous lipdup, the yearbook family, my date with my best friends that will be in Raleigh with me next year, all the interviews and applications, receiving my teaching fellow letter, getting in to Meredith College Honors Program, senior ball, deciding which college I would go to, and so much more.  This year has been so enjoyable and I have loved almost every minute of it.  As ready as I am for something different in my life, I can honestly say I'm going to miss all of these things. This past year, so many of my dreams have came true and I have had an unbelievable senior year.  It's hard to see this part of my life end, but I know the best part of my life is yet to come.
